Acoustic Plasmons in Graphene Sandwiched between Two Metallic Slabs

چکیده
We study the effect of two metallic slabs on collective dynamics electrons in graphene positioned between slabs. show that if are perfect conductors, plasmons display a linear dispersion relation. The velocity these acoustic crucially depends distance metal gates and sheet. In case generic slabs, relation is much more complicated, but we find can still be obtained under specific conditions.

Enhanced transmission through metallic plates perforated by arrays of subwavelength holes and sandwiched between dielectric slabs
This paper presents analytical and numerical studies demonstrating that a perfectly conducting metallic plate perforated by a periodic array of subwavelength holes and sandwiched in between two dielectric slabs permits enhanced transmission of electromagnetic plane waves in both the optical and microwave regimes, and this for both transverse magnetically and electrically polarized fields. The e...
متن کاملElectronic transport in nanoparticle monolayers sandwiched between graphene electrodes.
Graphene/CdSe nanoparticle monolayer/graphene sandwich structures were fabricated to explore the interactions between these layered materials. Electrical transport across these heterostructures suggests that transport is limited by tunneling through the nanoparticle (NP) ligands but not the NP core itself. Photoconductivity suggests ligands may affect the exciton separation efficiency.
متن کاملCoupling light into graphene plasmons through surface acoustic waves.
We propose a scheme for coupling laser light into graphene plasmons with the help of electrically generated surface acoustic waves. The surface acoustic wave forms a diffraction grating which allows us to excite the long lived phononlike branch of the hybridized graphene plasmon-phonon dispersion with infrared laser light. Our approach avoids patterning the graphene sheet, does not rely on comp...
متن کاملPlasmons in Waveguide Structures Formed by Two Graphene Layers
535 Much attention has been attracted in recent years to graphene, a material made up of a twoodimensional latt tice of carbon atoms [1–4]. From the fundamental point of view, graphene is interesting because charge carriers in this material are characterized by a linear diss persion relation, which leads to such phenomena as the roomtemperature quantum Hall effect [5] and the existence of a non...
متن کاملEdge plasmons in graphene nanostructures
Plasmon modes in graphene are influenced by the unusual dispersion relation of the material. For bulk plasmons this results in a n1/4 dependence of the plasma frequency on the charge density, as opposed to the n1/2 dependence in two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG); yet, bulk plasmon dispersion in graphene follows a similar q1/2 behavior as for other two-dimensional materials. In this work we co...
